Eero Aarnio
Finnish designer Eero Aarnio was born in 1932 in Helsinki. He originally wanted to study architecture, but after failing his mathematics exams he ended up studying at the Institute of Industrial Design in Helsinki. In 1960 he began experimenting with plastics, vivid colours and organic forms. In 1962 he opened his own studio for industrial design and interior design. Now Eero Aarnio is one of the most famous furniture designers of the twentieth century.
During a career spanning five decades, Eero Aarnio has created many high quality projects that can contribute to the recent popularity of Finnish design. Many of his works are exhibited in the world's most prestigious museums, such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Aarnio's designs have been used in international films and music videos. He is the recipient of many accolades and awards. Some of his iconic pieces include the Puppy or Trioli children's chairs.
