Giancarlo Piretti
Endless creativity, lots of designed products and collaborations with global brands. Italian designer Giancarlo Piretti was born in 1940 in Bologna, where he studied fine arts at the Instituto Statale d'Arte and then joined Annoima Castelli, where he designed the icon of Italian design, the Plia chair, in addition to furniture for home and office spaces. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, however, he also designed other world-famous pieces. He was also famous for his own "Piretti Collection", presented at Chicago's NeoCon in 1988. He has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award, which he has received twice.
