Giotto Stoppino
Architecture of residential buildings and offices, urban planning and product design. Italian designer Giotto Stoppino made history with iconic pieces from the late 1960s and 1970s. He was also a member of the Industrial Design Association, which he led as president for several years.
Born in Milan in 1926, he studied at the Universities of Venice and Milan and then worked for many years at Architetti Associati. He then opened his own architecture and design studio. In 1979 he won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award for the Sheraton buffet. His works have pride of place in the Moma permanent collection in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and other exhibitions. Kartell and Rexite are among the companies for which he has designed pieces full of innovative vision. Giotto Stoppino died in 2011.
