Martin Drechsel
This German and Swiss industrial designer based in Zurich studied art, engineering and marketing at various universities. This gave him a solid foundation for his later work, which combines artistic freedom with rooted scientific and technical knowledge. His youth spent in the former DDR gave him insight into different economic systems and their associated cultural environment. The scarcity of resources at that time taught him to think economically and to strive for quality, sustainability and durability in design. Later he gained valuable experience in the field through permanent collaborations with brands in Zurich, London, Berlin, Dresden, Milan, Florence and Amsterdam, for which he still works as an expert consultant.
For the outdoor brand EMU, for example, Martin Drechsel designed the minimalist Apero chair in an ultra-light, playful stainless steel design. This charming and durable chair can be used in many ways in any outdoor environment. Choose from a wide range of colours, with or without armrests.
