Monica Förster
Monica Förster, the creator of some of the most internationally renowned contemporary Swedish design objects, lives in Stockholm but grew up near the Arctic Circle in the very north of Sweden. Her work is characterized by a strong sense of pure form, which is mixed with an undying curiosity for new materials and technologies. She always strives to work interdisciplinarily, inventing and reinventing typologies in industrial, furniture and object design.
Förster, which is one of the top Swedish design companies, has created some of the classic designs of the future. Monica Förster Design Studio is based in Stockholm and collaborates internationally with companies such as Cappellini, Poltrona Frau, De Padova, Bernhardt, Whirlpool, Vibia, Tacchini, Modus, Offecct and Swedese. She has won numerous Swedish and international awards, such as Designer of the Year, and has exhibited worldwide in museums and institutions such as MoMA in New York and the VA museum. An example of her work is the unique GLIDE chair for Tacchini.
