Tias Eckhoff
One of Norway's most iconic designers, Tias Eckhoff has gone down in design history as a pioneer and an important link in the Scandinavian design movement. He was born in 1926 in the village of Vestre Slidre. He graduated from the National Academy of Art in Oslo with a degree in Ceramic Art, and over the years he moved from porcelain to working with different materials and on to furniture. The uniqueness of his work is confirmed by a number of awards, such as the Lunnig and Jacob Prize, the Classic Prize and the gold medals at the Milan Triennale. Some products are part of collections and museums across continents. New York's Museum of Modern Art MOMA, London's Victoria or the Albert Museum are among them.
The stackable ANA chair he designed for RBM in 1980 has been reproduced by many international brands. Even ProfiM has it in its portfolio in many colour variants and designs.
