William Sawaya
William Sawaya is a renowned designer, born in Beirut in 1948. He graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut in 1973. He is mainly involved in defining interior spaces (his first successes were with the design of some residences in Lebanon), and has expanded his professional activity to France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Russia, the USA and Arab Golf. He later studied in Paris and Milan, where he gained experience in furniture design, which he considers an important part of a coherent project in the field of housing culture.
In 1978 he moved to Italy and, together with Paolo Moroni, founded the Sawaya & Moroni Design office. Later, in 1984, together they founded Sawaya & Moroni Contemporary Furniture, where he manages the company's art and design activities. He is involved in various personal and collective exhibitions of art and design. His work has been published in various design and architecture publications, books, magazines and newspapers. Sawaya's works are represented in various museums and public and private collections. Products to which he has brought his creativity and craftsmanship can be found, for example, in the ZARINA collection he designed for Andrea World. This range stands out with its original design and unusual backrest.
