Claus Breinholt
Claus Breinholt was born in a small town in the west of Denmark. The son of a furniture dealer who preferred classic Danish design, he grew up surrounded by furniture from the hands of Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Ole Wanscher. It was Breinholt's origins that determined his life path. He graduated from Danmarks Designskole, where he received a scholarship for his innovative approach to the design process. In 2003, he established his design studio in Copenhagen, where he develops and designs his original furniture creations.
Claus Breinholt has won numerous national and international awards, including the FORBO Design Competition and the Danish Woodworking and Furniture Industries Competition. His products were exhibited at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in Copenhagen from 2000 to 2006, at the Satellite exhibition in Milan in 2001, at the International Furniture Fair held in Stockholm in 2001 and 2003 and at the Interzum fair in Cologne with Reholz GmbH. Breinholt's emphasis on pushing the boundaries of materials resulted in his popular LOOP chair, which was the world's first one-piece shell with arms made of 3D veneer. The LOOP collection, manufactured by Italian company Infiniti, has grown to include many variations of this famous work of art. Breinholt has also worked with Infiniti on the RUELLE and SICILA collections, among others.
