Philippe Starck

Philippe Starck, a world-renowned creator with a multifaceted inventiveness, always focuses on the essentials, on his vision: 'creation, whatever its form, must improve the lives of as many people as possible'. This philosophy has made him one of the pioneers and central figures of the concept of "democratic design". With his prolific work across all fields, from everyday products to architecture to marine and space engineering, he has continuously pushed the boundaries and demands of design, becoming one of the most renowned creators on the international scene today.

Philippe Starck was born in 1949. From a childhood spent under the drafting tables of his father, an aeronautical engineer and aircraft builder, he retained a fundamental lesson: everything should be ordered elegantly but rigorously, both in human relationships and in the final vision that guides every creative gesture. His absolute conviction that creation should serve all and be enjoyed by all leads him to strive tirelessly to make everything perfect, down to the smallest detail. After his extensive portfolio of unconventional buildings, furniture and other projects with world-renowned companies, he founded his first industrial design firm, Starck Product, which he later renamed Ubik after the famous Philip K. Dick. The collaboration with Starck was fatal for Emeco, for example, for which the designer designed the durable KONG chairs for the navy, bringing the brand to the public eye and the offers started pouring in.
