Rony Plesl

Academic sculptor, glass artist and designer Rony Plesl is one of the most renowned Czech artists with an international reputation. His work masterfully combines free sculpture with product design, while his main medium remains glass. Plesl's ability to find beauty in the contrast between historical legacy and modern technology has made him a sought-after artist whose works are represented in galleries and prestigious private collections around the world.

He has long collaborated with leading Czech and international brands for whom he has created iconic collections. One of his most notable recent successes is his collaboration with the Bomma glassworks. For the METAMORPHOSIS collection, he won the prestigious Archiproducts Design Awards in 2022. This international recognition only confirms his privileged position in the field of contemporary interior design.

In addition to his own creations and collaborations with industry, Rony Plesl has for many years led the glass studio at UMPRUM in Prague, where he shaped the emerging generation of Czech designers. His handwriting is defined by his courage to experiment with form and technology, which he proved with his monumental installation at the Venice Biennale, where he introduced a revolutionary glass melting technology. This renaissance man was also the creative director of the Rückl glassworks, his glass objects represented the Czech pavilion at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and he has many other achievements to his credit.
