A century of history and family tradition

It all began in 1926 in the Catalan town of Montblanc, where Josep Maria Sans Amilla developed the first machine for making metal links. Decades later, after careful research into the raw materials, his son Josep Maria Sans Folch designed new types of cells and perfected the technique of working with anodised aluminium, opening the door to a wide range of colours for the brand. His wife, Josefina Esplugas, made a major contribution to the company's worldwide expansion. Today, the company is run by the third generation of the Sans family, which has turned a local workshop into a global phenomenon exporting to 90 countries. Despite its global success and its collaboration with leading architects, Kriskadecor retains the image of a family business with an emphasis on precision craftsmanship.

Kriska vs. Snina

At the heart of all projects are two types of patented aluminium cells, which enable the creation of surfaces that behave like a metallic fabric levitating in space:

• Kriska: The versatile and durable 1972 cell that forms the basis of most iconic installations.
• Snina: A finer and more subtle version for applications requiring precise detail and denser weaving.

Thanks to anodizing technology , the chains acquire a high hardness and colour stability that do not fade even in the exterior. In addition to metallic shades, RAL or Pantone colours can also be used. A unique feature of the system is the ability to work with each loop as a pixel. Thus, any images, logos, colour gradients or complex graphic patterns can be "woven" into the chain surfaces with incredible precision.

Applications without limits: from interior to façade

The lightness of aluminium allows objects to be created that would not be technically possible with other materials. The mouldings can be bent into graceful curves, closed circles or layered into 3D effects. Thanks to its versatility, Kriskadecor offers an almost endless range of applications. In commercial interiors, such as offices or restaurants, chains are ideal for separating zones to create desirable privacy without depriving the space of natural light and airiness. Spectacular ceiling cascades in turn become a dominant feature in lobbies and staircases.

However, the chains do not only play an aesthetic role; in acoustic installations, the dense network of cells helps to effectively break up sound waves and reduce echo. As wall installations, they replace conventional paintings and add depth and a metallic sheen to walls. Kriskadecor has the planet in mind. It uses 100% recyclable aluminium and draws 40% of its energy for production directly from the sun. The material does not rust and is anti-static. Thanks to the constant micro-bending of the chains, almost no dust settles on them, making them a virtually maintenance-free element suitable for even demanding operations.
