From the history of SANCAL
Sancal was founded under the Spanish sun some forty years ago and has remained under it ever since. Spain is not denied in the identity of the company, it can be described as passionate, open, joyful, yet still humble. Sancal makes no secret of its pride in the craftsmen behind its meticulously crafted pieces. This authenticity has brought the company to the top rungs of Spanish design. At the heart of Sancal 's ethos are the people themselves. The company designs balanced products with a strong identity, but which can be adapted to contemporary design. According to the company's philosophy, the measure of everything is the diversity of human needs. Sancal' s design is special, unconventional, producing modern, timeless and eclectic furniture. Sancal designs products that bring value to interiors and enable the creation of personal and unique spaces. The secret ingredients in their designs are love and humour, each product is a labour of love.
Santiago was only twenty when he decided to set up a shop selling classic chairs in the style of Marie Antoinette's time. As demand grew, he enlisted the help of his brother Pepe and his wife Concha, and together they transformed Sancal into the family-run company it is today. Santiago turned from gold threads to modern design, which went hand in hand with the advent of democracy in Spain. With the new century, Santiago's talented daughters Esther and Elena took over the artistic direction of the company. Their conception of design is more extroverted. Today, Sancal has two factories in Yecla, Spain, with a total of 80 employees, producing approximately 30,000 products a year, which can be found in more than 90 countries.

Sancal has a deep respect for all creative professionals. This means that any project they embark on, regardless of its nature, they do to the hilt and let their creativity take over. For Sancal, design is a source of innovation, developing new concepts and improving existing ones. Sancal strives for simplicity in its products as well as simplifying the lives of its customers. This corporate personified design culture is further enriched by the constant collaboration with designers from all over the world, whose personalities impregnate all products.
Collaboration with designers
The Sancal design studio prefers to work with external designers. Product designs are often directed by some of the world's most famous designers and design studios, with the brand having worked with Karim Rashid,Toyo-Ito, Sebastian Herkner, Luca Nichetto, Note Design Studio and Mut Design, to name a few.
SANCAL focuses on sustainability
As one would expect from such a modern and innovative company, it has a great sense of sustainability and environmental responsibility. It has both ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality certifications, which guarantees overall environmental certification. Yet the company's concern goes far beyond the requirements of any standard. As a family-run company with the next generation in mind, Sancal designs pieces that stand the test of time and are therefore sustainable. In its manufacturing process, Sancal works only with wood from renewable sources, and all residues from the production itself are recyclable. In addition, all the electricity needed for production is generated by solar panels in the factories.
