Mart Stam's revolutionary approach changed furniture history forever when he removed the back legs from a chair - an object that had been created according to the same templates for centuries. In his designs, he placed the utmost emphasis on absolute utility, material economy and austerity of form. The result of this radical reduction is the S 43 chair, which combines a straightforward tubular steel frame in chrome or lacquered versions with anatomically shaped wooden elements for the seat and backrest. These are made of oak or beech moulded plywood in several available finishes. Practical glides can be purchased to protect the floor.
