CRASSEVIG = "The Way of the Birch" - the path and roots of the Italian company CRASSEVIG lead to Scandinavia. It's the late 1960s and Luigi Crassevig has walked that birch path several times, always looking for new solutions to combine the classic styles of the past with modern ones, and priding himself on refined home furnishing innovations with a focus on the creative use of wood. Along the way, CRASSEVIG has defined its own style - a harmonious union between what used to be and what is to become. Design, colour, flexibility - these are the three key elements that make up the identity of the brand, whose products combine tradition with a new dimension and innovation. Inspired by Scandinavian design, the company has, over the last 50 years, laid the foundations for itself with a timeless approach that has allowed it to interpret reality and evolve with it.

Research, experience and inspiration. The concepts created by Crassevig are based on the Via delle Betulle, a journey of discovery and fascination with Scandinavian aesthetics. This journey was started by Luigi Crassevig in the 1960s, who had a dream of traditional elements such as wood while experimenting with innovative materials. It was his vision that defined the company's authentic style and the harmonious connection between past, present and future. A large range of products is primarily based on ideas, technical and creative skills. This is why Crassevig relies on talented designers, planners and architects including Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, Marcello Ziliani, This Weber, Patrick Norguet, Mathias Nilo, Ton Haas, Enrico Franzolini and Rodolfo Dordoni.
Back from history
The story of the Crassevig brand begins in 1969 in Corno di Rosazzo, near Udine. Shortly after the company was founded, the most sophisticated methods of wood bending and design work were born. The first design product of Crassevig, Johan, a coat rack by designer Giovanni Offredi, is an example for all. In 1977, Crassevig received a nice honour: it was the first non-Scandinavian company ever to be invited to the Copenhagen Furniture Fair, thus establishing itself in the Scandinavian design kingdom. Further success comes when the Arca chair from the hands of designer Gigi Sabadino receives a nomination for the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award .
The Asia chair - one of the first with a metal frame and plywood shell - was designed by Enrico Franzolini. This stylish and functional chair was nominated for the Compasso d'Oro award in 1996 . Ludovica and Roberto Palomba's project also gave rise to the Anna chair, whose perfect curvature of the wood makes it extremely light, and Ludovica and Roberto Palomba also enjoyed success with the Alis multifunctional stackable chair.
In 2002, Crassevig published a new catalogue, which was processed in a rural setting, but a horse suddenly got involved in the photography and gave away the whole image of the catalogue. In 2005 Ton Haas designs Nett, a chair made of coloured nylon and fibreglass resembling a net effect. A few years later, designer Patrick Nourget came up with a lightweight basket construction made of 26 different rods, the Stem chair. Dondolo, one of Crassevig's historic pieces, designed in 1970 by Luigi Crassevig, was re-presented in 2015, now in a new, fully upholstered version. Dondolo is a symbol of expertise, of first-class materials. The steam bending technique was used for this unique ergonomic chair.
